I spent 91 minutes of my life today trying to get a refund from Orbitz for a hotel reservation. I made the reservation yesterday as my bathroom is being renovated and my water would be shut off. My husband recommended that my daughter and I book a hotel room due to the this, This morning my husband told me to cancel the reservation as we would not be able to work on the bathroom this weekend. I went on line and canceled. Then I received an email stating I would not be receiving a refund. I was shocked as I had but in the cancellation 24 hours prior. I called the Orbitz Customer Service and after being transferred and placed on hold for 40 minutes I finally spoke to a rep who also kept putting me on hold as she contacted the Hotel. She came back to me and said that the hotel would not give me a refund, I asked if I could just reschedule my reservation until the following weekend. After again being placed on hold again she came back to say that the hotel stated no they could not do that for me as I had already cancelled. I hung up and called the hotel only to find out from them that they could not refund me as they did not charge my credit card, that Orbitz had placed the charge and would be the ones to refund me, They encouraged me to dispute the charge with my bank. I am so angry that Orbitz has basically swindled me out of $198.00 of my money plus an additional $2.00 that was randomly changed to my account. They kept on on the phone for 91 minutes mostly on hold for nothing. I will NEVER use Orbitz again and will tell anyone who will listen to steer clear of their web site. What awful customer service!
