orbitz is keeping my money!


i cancelled my airline tickets with an orbitz agent on may 17th and was told to expect a refund within 21 days. after 21 days went by i called and was told that it was being processed and i should see it on my card. finally on june 9th, i called my credit card company to see if they were holding up my credit and they told me nothing was pending from orbitz. the customer service agent with my credit card company even called orbitz directly with me on the line and questioned the orbitz agent as to where my refund was. the orbitz agent said she put in a request to the refund department but we were not able to talk directly with the refund department. what kind of company doesn't let you talk with someone who can actually process your refund? we asked the orbitz agent to expedite the refund somehow since we couldn't talk to anyone in person. the orbitz agent suggested we talk directly with the airlines since they were waiting for the airlines to approve the refund. really???? isn't this why we use orbitz in the first place? aren't they supposed to take care of everything. in any case, since i was getting no where with orbitz, i called the airlines directly and they told me my reservations was not even cancelled. of course when i called orbitz again and told them what the airlines said, they assured me that my tickets were cancelled and my refund was being processed. is it just me or do you think i'm getting the run around? at last on june 11th, i received an email from this secret refund department at orbitz that my refund was being processed (again) and i was given a refund confirmation number. hmmmm....why did it take almost a month to receive this email from the refund department? of course again in the email, i was told to wait 14 days to see the credit on my card. really???? haven't i waited long enough and now i have to wait some more? i have checked my credit card online every day and am not seeing anything. today i got fed up and i chatted with an orbitz agent who again reassured me that my credit is being processed. i asked to talk with a supervisor and was told there wasn't any i could chat with and i had to call the customer service line. i called and asked for a supervisor and was told again to wait. there was nothing they could do to speed up my credit even though i've waited over a month since cancelling my tickets. also, now everyone i talked to today have told me i need to wait 21 days for the refund. i asked the "supervisor" if i could talk to their supervisor and was told i could talk to the manager. i waited on hold for an eternity to talk to this "manager" who gave me the same story. and to top it all off this "manager" (i wish i took down her name) hung up on me! sorry but i am shocked at how horrible the orbitz customer service is and how messed up the whole organization is to not be able to get a refund in a timely manner. any normal business refunds your money within a couple weeks. waiting over a month for a refund is not acceptable, especially when i'm waiting for a refund of over $5K! i'm not complaining over $100.
